Spanish Dagger, also knows as Mojave Yucca plants are everywhere in Southern California. At least that’s what I think these Yuccas are called. I’ve incorrectly referred to them as Mission Bell Yucca in the past, though I have no earthly idea why. If you search for “Mission Bell Yucca,” you’re likely to find a photo from this account with that name and a whole bunch of other Yuccas with actual Mission Bells in the background. For the record, I don’t have the authority to name plants.
Anyway, they dot the landscape at Vasquez Rocks Natural Area and one of my favorite photos in my Flickr account is a photo of a Yucca in the sun. But it’s been a while since I have pointed my camera at these flowers. Perhaps it’s time for a little creative challenge. 🙂
