Once in a while, a driving plan works out they way you hope it will. We left Santa Clarita for Green River, Utah at 5 am. This was the first leg of our three-day drive to the USATF Hershey National Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships being held in Lawrence, Kansas. We’ve driven across the country many times. Our first day usually ends in Grand Junction, Colorado, but since I was the only driver I decided to shorten the trip by a couple of hours. The unintended consequence of that decision is that we had some time to stop at a few vista points that we’re usually in too rushed to see. This stop along I-70 at the Salt Wash Overlook in the San Rafael Swell was the first of three designated vista point stops in this beautiful state.
