Phil called out to me to report a Goanna sighting. He was down the hill on the path that led from the water to our AirBnB in Coasters Retreat, New South Wales, Australia. I had never seen a Goanna before, except in photos. Goannas, being predatory reptiles, are typically characterized by their substantial size and formidable features, such as sharp claws and teeth. Among them, the perentie is the largest, reaching over 2.5 meters (8.2 feet). The one observed here was nearly 3 feet long. It was exciting to be able to photograph this creature.
