Like the first, the second and final California Winter Championships Qualifier at Simi Valley High School was contested under perfect weather conditions. And the quality of the performances matched the quality of the weather. And there was one very notable performance I’d like to highlight.
A Freshman from Bishop Alemany High School, Demare Dezeurn (shown above), put up the fastest 60M time ever run by a Freshman in California. His 6.83 60M time came with just a +0.2 wind reading. That time also ranks as the 5th fastest 60M all-time by a Freshman in the United States. The National Freshman record, which had stood for two decades, was only just broken on January 21 by Jamier Averette-Brown from Wayne High School in Huber Heights, Ohio. His time… 6.76. Keep an eye on these two over the next four years!
