With a bronze medal at the 2024 Paris Paralympics, Beatrice Hatz came into the 2025 Mt. SAC Relays with a stellar pedigree. After watching her first long jump, I decided to create a composite image of her subsequent jump. It was worth the effort. Thankfully, the following day, she also competed in the Paralympic Division 100, so I approached her after the race to share the original 12608 × 4652 pixel image with her. One of the best aspects of being invited to photograph the Mt. SAC Relays is the presence of many elite athletes competing. The 2022 Mt. SAC Relays saw Michael Norman, Rai Benjamin, Athing Mu, and the legendary Alison Felix compete. I took great joy in photographing them. My composite of Rai Benjamin in the 300M Hurdles at the 2023 Mt. SAC Relays is, as of this morning, the header image for the Run Mt. SAC X (Twitter) account. And while the composite of Beatrice Hatz turned out as good as I had hoped, her smile in the photo below will likely tell you even more about her.
