To see Mount Saint Helens from Vancouver, Washington, you have to be in just the right spot. Thankfully, a clear day and my spot on the Interstate Bridge at peak golden hour made the shot above possible. A 240mm lens didn’t hurt either. I can’t imagine what it must have looked like when the top blew off this volcano in May 1980. I can clearly remember the news stories, but now that I live here, it really hits home.
