A Perfect Frame For Portland's Epic Mountain Vistas

Council Crest Park provides a perfect frame for Portland’s epic mountain vistas. This past Sunday, we drove from Vancouver, WA, across the Columbia River to Portland, OR. We wanted to spend the afternoon with our son, Isaiah, and Keyser, the 17-year-old family dog that Isaiah cares for so wonderfully. So we decided to visit Council Crest Park, which is just 1.8 miles from his apartment. It is stunning how beautifully this park highlights the mountains surrounding this area.

“At 1,073 feet above sea level, Council Crest is one of the highest public points in Portland,” the website states. “On a clear day, you can see several Cascade peaks, including Mount Hood, Mount St. Helens, Mount Adams, Mount Jefferson, and Mount Rainier.” I could identify only Mount Hood (above), Mount St. Helens (just below), and Mount Adams (photo three). But wow, “a perfect frame” is all I can come up with for how this park was designed. I’ll be back.
